Dirt Dessert is one of my go-to snacks for kids parties, potlucks, bake sales, school parties and VBS. Everyone loves Dirt Dessert! It’s fun and sooooo yummy. You can make them in individual cups or in a flower pot with a big flower inserted into the center. If you serve in a flower pot, use a kids sand shovel to scoop out servings 🙂
Note: For a construction-themed birthday party, make the dessert in a large plastic toy dump truck. Add rock candy so it looks like a pile of dirt and rock. Fun!
(Makes 24, 9-ounce cups)
- 2 packages Oreos
- (2) 8-ounce packages cream cheese, room temperature (I use Philadelphia)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 4 cups milk
- (2) 3.3-ounce packages instant chocolate pudding mix
- 2.3-ounce package instant vanilla pudding mix
- 16-ounce container frozen whipped topping, thawed (I use Cool Whip Extra Creamy)
- Gummy worms
Crush Oreos in a food processor and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until combined. Add butter and continue to beat with hand mixer. Add milk and instant puddings. Beat until smooth. Let sit for 10 minutes to thicken. Add half of the crushed cookies and stir until combined. Fold in whipped topping.
Layer cookie crumbs and pudding into the cups, starting and ending with the crumbs. Press gummy worms into the pudding. (I had leftover rock candy from a construction site cake so I added one to each cup.)
